Lon is passionate about teaching and mentoring the next generation of African leaders. He loves baseball and following his Cincinnati Reds even when it means listening to games in the middle of the night in Africa.
Before becoming a pastor, Lon spent his time as a technical writer, systems analyst, software developer, executive and business owner. Lon and Val have two married daughters and three grandchildren living in Colorado. When returning to the States Lon and Val divide their time between Colorado and Florida.
"Lon was the chairman of the Elder Board that hired me as the Senior Pastor of Northland in 1985. His intelligence and faith were significant factors in my decision to come to Northland. He is still a great inspiration to me - someone whose life is submitted to God in the healthiest and most joyful way. He is still teaching me how to follow Jesus after all these years."
